headlice

Headlice are small wingless insects that live and feed on human scalp. Headlice need blood in order to live. They try feeding off by attaching themselves and their nits or lice eggs to the shafts of human hair. They find the human scalp as a preferred living area to thrive and flourish. Lice would only take 9 to 12 days to reach adult stage and begin breeding. An inseminated adult female louse is capable of producing more than a hundred eggs at a rate of 6 eggs a day. An egg would only take about 8 days of development before it again hatches a nymphal louse which can repeat the cycle again and again. During their developmental period until they reach the adulthood, lice will continue to feed by sucking human blood from the scalp. Their feeding frenzy on the scalp can cause itching which can lead to scabs and blood spots. Having an itchy scalp as well as itching on the back of the neck or behind the ears can be a sign that you may have a lice infestation. Lice can be a very annoying problem. What makes it worse is that it can easily be a problem that can transfer from one person to another.

It is not always easy having a headlice problem. It can be worsened if there are many members in your household. Everyone can then become a probable victim of a lice infestation. Lice can easily spread from person to person because they can survive away from a human host for about 48 hours, giving them enough time to transfer to other humans. Their nits can survive for up to 10 days. Although they cannot jump or hop like fleas, headlice and their eggs may be moved from one person to another through the sharing of personal items such as combs, brushes, hats, clothing and the like. Any object that comes into contact with a lice infested person can spread lice to others. It is always advisable to eliminate them before they can victimize other household members. In order to do this, you have to find a product effective at eliminating lice and its eggs. If headlice have continually been a problem for you and your household, we have the solution for you.
